I lost 10 pounds! Let me type that again, I lost 10 pounds! After what has seemed a lot longer than 5 weeks, I met my goal and lost the first 10 pounds and half way to my goal weight. Just typing that feels unreal but looking at my body, especially my face and my legs, I am starting to see a difference. I feel excited to get up in the morning, excited to put on my running shoes and excited to continue on my weight loss journey.
We went to the engagement party and I slipped on a dress that was a little too tight when I bought it, in hopes of motivating myself to loss the weight and fit into it perfectly. I am happy to say that it zipped up without any extra force or tugging at the fabric or getting into any weird and uncomfortable position (ladies, you know what I’m talking about).
The engagement party itself brought other issues, like not eating every single appetizer and only having two drinks instead of four. While everyone went back for seconds and thirds, I just sat at the table and drank water, trying to take my mind off food while talking to all the guests. The distractions helped, but I still craved the food. I didn’t give into temptations, but it was hard holding back. I just kept thinking, you don’t want to be fat on your weighing day, you don’t want to look at those pictures and wish you had done more.
Once we returned home, I immediately went to the grocery store to stock up on good-for-me meals and snacks so I won’t feel the urge or desire to drive through somewhere for cheeseburger or taco. Having quality and healthy meals around help me so much. Before, I remember we would go to the grocery store once a week and now we go several times a week for fresh veggies and fruits. I don’t know about you, but when I have avocado on my salad, I’m about four times more likely to want to eat a salad. Same thing with low calorie cereals, if I have fresh strawberries or bananas to put on top, I actually wake up in the morning wanting that instead of a doughnut or bagel.
I also jumped right back into my work outs and boot camp. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I love boot camp! I love being pushed to make my body do things I never thought were possible and I love sweating more than I’ve ever sweat before. It sounds strange but before I would never sweat. How is that even possible? Now, with all the water I’m drinking and how hard I’m working, I sweat like crazy. It is really gross and at the same time, it makes me so happy because I know I’m working out and losing weight.
This week I plan on continuing with my diet and pump up my workouts. Since the weather is starting to cool off a little, I want to start hiking a few times a week and doing more workouts outside. I don’t know about you, but there is something about walking and running outdoors that is so much better for my mind than inside on the treadmill.
Best part of all of this, I feel like my old self. I feel more confident and happier. I am encouraged that I put time and effort into bettering myself and I can’t wait to continue this ride.
Jade, awesome week! I know that feeling you’re talking about- when you finish a good workout and you are all sweaty and nothing feels better than a hot shower. I feel a huge difference when I don’t exercise. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Michaela. When I don’t exercise I feel rundown all day. It’s easy to let that keep you from going to the gym, but I try to force myself even when I don’t feel like going. Thanks for the encouragement!
