Why Diet Fads Don’t Work

Diet fads are a dime a dozen. Is it no wonder it is so hard to choose a diet that works well with your weight loss goals? Even worse is the fact that most diet fads only hinder your goals by not working, or even increasing your weight. Here are some reasons why diet fads need to stay on the back burner when setting out your weight loss goals:

Weight falls off only to pack back on

Weight loss is a thing of magic. When the weight is falling off, people find it exciting. This is the one area you need to carefully watch with your goals. Most diet fads are geared towards fast weight loss up front to get you all excited and invest more of your hard earned money into the fad.

The reason this fast weight dropping is not conducive to your weight loss goals is that that weight will often come back. Unless you enjoy eating those expensive shakes, and dry diet bars you will eventually crave real food again.

Dietary restrictions are full of loss

The biggest fad diets are those full of dietary restrictions. Weight loss is hard enough without having to deal with what you can or cannot eat. You know these restrictive diets as fads like the low-carb, low-fat, detox, the juice diet, and many other names.

The problem is that these fads won’t even help you with your weight loss. You might notice a big drop in weight up front, but the restrictions these diets put you on are often not sustainable long term. The first time you enjoy that piece of birthday cake you gain 10 pounds. This is detrimental to your mind set and all the weight  loss you achieved.

Fads come and go like the rising tide

Think back through time and remember all the weight loss fads that have come and gone throughout the years. This should be a glaring indicator that the latest fad or miracle pill won’t work for you.

Let’s put it another way. If any of these miracle diet fads or devices actually worked, wouldn’t everyone be following that same regiment? There is a big reason all these fade out of existence. That reason is these weight loss fads of the past, and present, just don’t work long term.

Some fads are actually harmful

The worst part about these fads is that some can be harmful to you. There is a world of knowledge about what makes for a sustainable and healthy diet. These weight loss diets don’t consist of drinking every meal through a straw.

Your body really does need fat and calories to sustain a healthy working system. Talk to your doctor about what would best work for you before you jump on some weight loss fad that could potentially harm you in the end.

Your weight loss goals should be a high priority. Follow some solid advice or people who have met and maintained their weight loss goals. Following some diet fad could only lead to a big disappointment in your ultimate goal.
